With two nights to work his charm in Charleston, Keller delivered two totally unique performances. The first night saw him perform solo, backed by his typical and impressive display of multi-instrumental tape loops. The second night was a more traditional concert affair (though perhaps less traditional for Keller himself), as the guitarist was backed by his tight-knit KWahtro ensemble featuring Gibb Droll, Danton Boller, and Rodney Holmes. The first night of the run saw Keller mix his classic originals with unique covers, delighting fans with his one-of-a-kind solo performing style. The Grateful Dead’s music was on full display in the run, as Keller picked on “Mountains of the Moon” and “Shakedown Street” during the first show, and would bring out “Eyes Of The World” and “Scarlet Begonias” in the second. There were also a number of familiar favorites, like “She Rolls” and “Gate Crashers,” as well as “Best Feeling” and more with the full band. Thanks to yuforic on YouTube, we can watch a series of videos from the solo performance below. The full setlists from the two night run, as well as photos of KWahtro by Ellison White Photography, can be seen below as well. Load remaining imageslast_img read more

first_imgQUICKEST OVERTIME IN NFL HISTORY—Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (88) breaks away from Steelers defensive back Ryan Mundy (29) for the winning touchdown in overtime, Jan. 8, in Denver. (AP Photo/Joe Mahoney) As it was the defense that carried the Steelers into the playoffs this season, it was the defense that knocked them out, as they could not stop one of the worst offenses in football. After a stunning 29-23 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos on a play that took only 11 seconds, the Steelers are going fishing. In what was supposed to be a low scoring game dominated by a great defensive unit against a very good one, after the first quarter it became a shoot out. After a very slow start by both teams, the Broncos jumped off to a big lead in the second quarter behind the precision passing of Tim Tebow, who was under the gun by all experts including his own coaching staff and management because he ran more than he passed. He only had 60 yards passing in his last game and had thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in his last three games. But he was brilliant in the second quarter leading his team to a 20-6 lead. After being called out by Hall of Famer John Elway, who is in charge of football operations for the Broncos, Tebow had the best game of his brief NFL career. Even though he was only 10 of 21, he had 316 yards as he picked the Steelers defense apart after being held to just 8 yards in the first quarter. It was as if the Broncos were baiting the Steelers to stack the line to stop the run so Tebow could surprise them with his throws down the field to wide open receivers. And he hit them right in stride. This not only was his breakout game, but it probably solidified his position as the Broncos quarterback of the future. He’s proven to top management and his coaching staff that if given the chance he can pass, as well as run. In fact his passing sets up his running and his running sets up his passing.Yes, the Steelers were without key players on defense with Pro Bowlers Casey Hampton and Brett Keisel suffering injuries in the first half, as well as Ryan Clark not being able to play and LaMarr Woodley missing much of the game. With the defensive line decimated the youngsters did a very good job but if they were better than the old veterans they would have been starting. With the lack of pressure, Tebow had all day to either throw the football or run it, which he did very well. The offense looked better than it has just about all season as Ben Roethlisberger led a gallant comeback, but the defense was unable to hold even after the Steelers tied the game at 23-23 during regulation. The rest is history. The Broncos got the ball first in overtime and marched down the field on the first play for the score as the defensive backs were burned once again by a long pass from Tebow to Demaryius Thomas, who had 4 catches for 204 yards for the game. Now the Steelers must take a long look at the team they have which is full of talent but must figure out what needs to be done in order for them to move to the next level. That next level is the Super Bowl. In Pittsburgh there’s nothing else. There were many bright spots in the season with the most impressive being the play of receivers Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown, who both finished with over 1,000 yards. Wallace had 1193 yards on 72 catches and Brown had 1108 yards on 69 receptions. Rashard Mendenhall, despite much criticism, finished among the league leaders in rushing with 928 yards and the defense once again finished number one overall. First against the pass, 8th against the run, and second to the 49ers in points allowed. The problem was the offense. They finished 19th in a 32 team league. Something has to be done to improve their performance in the red zone. They must be able to score touchdowns instead of field goals. And it’s not because they don’t have a power back, because neither do the Packers, Patriots or Saints, yet they have no problem scoring touchdowns once they get into the red zone. The Broncos will face the New England Patriots this weekend with the Houston Texans who defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 31-10 traveling to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Patriots and the Ravens should be victorious. The Patriots will win the AFC championship. In the NFC the New York Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons 24-2 and the New Orleans Saints beat the Detroit Lions 45-28. This weekend the Giants will face the Green Bay Packers and the Saints will travel to San Francisco to face the 49ers. Even though the home team has won every game so far, look for this to change in the NFC. The Saints will beat the 49ers and the Giants will upset the Packers. The Saints will win the NFC championship, setting up a dream game between the Patriots and Saints.last_img read more
