Troy University’s College of Communication and Fine Arts presented its annual Sounds of the Season holiday celebration Tuesday night at the Claudia Crosby Theater. This year’s show, titled “Christmas Traditions,” featured special guest artist Bobby Horton with students and faculty from the John M. Long School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance. Horton joined several vocalists and shared the history of many of the familiar carols of Christmas. He also led a sing-along near the close of the program.Horton expressed his delight at being invited to be a part of Troy University’s holiday celebration. He and Dr. Larry Blocher, dean of the College of Communication and Fine Art, had been working together, via email and other long distance means, to coordinate his role in the show. Horton said he was already impressed with the Troy University College of Communication and Fine Arts. I am so impressed with the faculty, their credentials and the positive way they work with and nurture the kids, from Dr. Blocher on down,” Horton said. “The kids were so impressive on every level. They were, first and foremost, really nice people. During the dress rehearsal, they worked hard, efficiently and with good spirit. I was impressed with their work ethic. The interaction between the faculty and the students was inspirational.”Horton said the talent level of all students was evident.“The program seemed to fly by.
