Moroccos Ministry of Education to Address Issue of Overcrowding in Schools

Casablanca – Morocco’s Ministry of Education will hire new teachers for the current school year as part of its plan to overcome the shortage of teachers.In the beginning of the current academic year, all news sources focused on the suffering of the public school teachers who found themselves obliged to teach classes of 60 to 70 students due to the enormous deficit in the number of teachers.Earlier this week, Almassae indicated that efforts of the Ministry of Education is underway to carry out a plan to hire teachers with fixed-term contract to fill in the need in this area. Moroccan news website Le360 cited a source inside the Ministry of Education as saying that the Ministry will is carrying out the project:“Indeed, the Ministry is working on a project to address the shortage of teachers,” the same source said.“The arrangement, the budgets, the number of teachers that will be recruited haven’t been determined.,” it added.The deficit in the number of teachers is as a high as 7000. The state of overcrowding, though less common in primary schools, is very common in middle and high schools. According to many news sources, teachers have reported extreme working conditions, such as classes where the same teacher teaches students of different levels at the same time.
