This eBook will help you Seize Your Sales Destiny, with or without a manager. Download Now I had to consider the title Eat Their Lunch, the image of a person taking another person’s lunch in the form of a brown paper bag, a yellow cover that screams for attention, and an aggressive font.I also had to consider whether to use the Red Ocean as a metaphor for competition, as well as the shark that causes the ocean to be red in the first place. The sharks in the red ocean aren’t attacking their customers; they’re attacking each other. So, if you live where the water is red, it’s best to be the Great White.I struggled with all of these decisions, but not because there is anything that I have written that would give anyone pause about my recommendations on how to sell. What I believe is that selling is something you are doing for someone and with someone—and not something you do to someone. It’s the act of caring enough to help people create better results, including results they don’t yet know are available to them.I took only one person’s counsel on this, and that counsel came from a friend and mentor, Seth. We agreed that I had to either run towards these concepts or away from them. I chose to run towards them because the need to displace competitors is necessary in for most of us who are not fortunate enough to have a line of people waiting to buy from us each morning (something only Apple has proven capable of). I did, however, change the hand grabbing the bag from a man’s hand in a suit with a big watch on his wrist, because it was too Glengarry Glenn Ross for me.Recently someone told me that 80% of people have a negative opinion of salespeople. I don’t believe that is true, even if people may respond to a survey in the numbers indicated. People have moms and dads, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers, and friends who work in sales. I don’t buy the “everybody hates salespeople” idea because I spend every day with salespeople who have clients that love them–even if those clients don’t buy from poor salespeople.Over time, I have developed a certain immunity to the negative stereotype of salespeople, like one might develop from taking a small dose of iocane powder every day. That said, the title, cover, and red ocean concept are all aimed directly at salespeople who must displace competitors in the act of acquiring new opportunities and clients. Nothing in Eat Their Lunch, The Lost Art of Closing, or The Only Sales Guide suggests that salespeople do anything to harm or take advantage of their clients, and nor do any of the 3,700 blog posts I have published here.last_img read more

first_imgEuropean media groups need to come together and collaborate in order to stave off the threat presented by global internet giants, including collaboration in content and platforms, according to Christian Anting, Polish broadcaster TVN’s digital chief and co-chairman of the European Media Alliance, the grouping of key European broadcasters forged in 2014 to promote initiatives where collaboration makes sense.Christian Anting“The alliance is designed to face up to common challenges and challengers. Everyone has their own digital transformation [process] but new forms of partnerships need to be created to build the scale,” said Anting, speaking at the Digital TV CEE conference in Budapest yesterday. “It is time for European broadcasters and media groups to come together. We can make these types of collaboration and partnership work successfully.”Anting told conference attendees that maintaining its position in the Polish market was only part of the challenge facing TVN, which had to develop a strategy to see off competition from global players entering the market.“This is a C-level network to work out solutions to the main challenges that our business is facing and build scale in those areas where we are challenged,” he said. The alliance is now focusing on four main areas – content production and licensing to take on the challenge of OTT, developing strategy for online video and digital ad sales.Anting said that collaboration could extend to building out platforms to rival global internet companies if it made sense, but acknowledged the challenges in aligning the aims of diverse companies and said that projects had to be specific and be based on key shared interests. On the content production and licensing side, TVN, its owner Scripps and ProSiebenSat.1 have teamed up to collaborate on programming and production. Scripps branded blocks were launched on PeroSiebenSat.1 as an initial phase. The groups are now using Poland to act as a hub to produce short and long-form programming for the German and Polish markets. Anting said that this would be expanded to other markets later this year. The leading companies behind the alliance, Mediaset, ProSieben.Sat 1 and TF1, are also collaborating on creating new digital ventures. Anting highlighted the fact that companies in the alliance had downscaled their own multichannel network (MCN) initiatives to focus on ProSieben.Sat1-backed Studio71. Anting said other partners would also contribute in future.A third initiative was to create the European Broadcaster Exchange, building a pan-European sales house for online video and digital ad sales. EBX will kick of in January 2018 with the contribution of online inventory into a central repository that can be sold on a programmatic basis.Anting said that to develop OTT, TVN realised that people want local language content and programmes from brands that they know. Creating originals for OTT is at an early stage of development, said Anting. The alliance identified projects that could be produced jointly and to find scripts that could be exploited across multiple markets. Cape Town – a six episode drama that aired exclusively on OTT in Poland – was one of the first. “We would never have been able to afford this on a standalone basis,” said Anting.last_img read more

first_imgTwo assault rifles and one submachine gun have been seized. As well as the weapons, a quantity of Class B drugs, counterfeit clothing and DVDs, around £13,000 in cash, phones, tablets, documents, more than 7,000 illicit cigarettes and a quantity of hand-rolling tobacco were seized. Two men, aged 44 and 43, have been arrested and are in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.A further search was carried out in relation to the investigation in Derry area led by HMRC and supported by PSNI. One of the assault rifles seized during the major search operation in Derry/TWO men have been arrested after a major PSNI search operation in Derry into INLA criminality discovered firearms, thousands of illicit cigarettes and thousands of pounds of cash.Seven searches were carried out on Tuesday under the Terrorism Act by the PSNI with support from HMRC officers. ShareTweet An Garda Siochana carried out a search in Co Donegal in which around 60,000 illicit cigarettes, a large quantity of tobacco, a large quantity of counterfeit clothing, DVDs and other items including money were seized during the operation.District Commander, Superintendent Gordon McCalmont said: “The INLA in Londonderry and Strabane claim to be the protectors of their community, but the reality is that they use violence and intimidation to control and exploit those communities.“Weapons like the ones seized today pose a threat to everyone and anyone who brings guns onto our streets does not care about our community.“When a gun is fired there is no guarantee where the bullet could end up or who it could harm and the people of our city have seen the damage and devastation that this can cause.”A submachine gun seized during the major search operation in DerrySupt McCalmont said that many INLA members are involved in a range of criminal money-making rackets, including the supply of drugs, blackmail, extortion and money laundering.“Despite what they say, it is clear that they do not mind drug dealers operating in the local area– as long as they’re getting their ‘cut’ from the profits,” the senior officer said. “The INLA are hypocrites allowing those supplying illegal drugs to continue ruining the lives of those with addiction so long as they pay up.“And if they don’t they are threatened with severe violence and murder. Local families suffer at the expense of INLA members lining their pockets.“Furthermore, the INLA are heavily involved in the supply of counterfeit goods and illicit cigarettes and whilst the supply of these items may seem like victimless crimes, profits made from the sale of these items can help to fund INLA terrorism and criminality which brings misery and harm to the local community“Through working closely with HMRC, An Garda Siochana and other partners, we will continue to tackle Paramilitarism. We know that the communities most affected by these groups support our ongoing efforts.“I would appeal for anyone with information regarding criminality by paramilitary organisations to contact police on 101.A quantity of illicit cigarettes and tobacco seized during the major search operation in Derry“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”Steve Tracey, Assistant Director, Fraud Investigation Service, HMRC, said: “Working together in partnership with other enforcement colleagues we can target the criminal gangs who are stealing from the taxpayer, robbing public services and undermining legitimate traders.”Two arrested, three guns, £13k in cash and 7,000 cigarettes seized in INLA crackdown was last modified: June 13th, 2019 by John2John2 Tags: 000 cigarettes seized in INLA crackdownDerryHMRCINLASteve TreacySupt McCalmontthree gunsTwo arrested£13k in cash and 7last_img read more
