DCI will focus on communities most affected by the epidemic. The DCI executive director, Atty. Foday M. Kawah, said the organization was identifying with orphans and others affected by the deadly Ebola virus. The items distributed included anti-Ebola buckets, chlorate, rice, sugar, oil and ovaltine for the children and women as well as men who have lost parents, guardians and care givers to the Ebola virus.”DCI is targeting 89 households but will pay more attention to the orphans.“We are doing this because we are a child rights institution and need to ensure that these orphans are provided food; we believe in the rights of our children and women’s rights as well; so, our targeted beneficiaries are orphans.  Women who lost their husbands as well as men who lost their wives to Ebola will also benefit from the donation,” said Mr. Kawa. The DCI executive director further pledged his organization’s commitment to providing legal representation for women and children who are victims of gender based violence amid the Ebola crisis in the country as well as old folks who are vulnerable in the society.Pastor Johnson H. Kollie thanked DCI-Liberia for the donation, describing it as timely for the orphans and others affected by the epidemic in the area.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more

A clearly outraged Councillor Fisher said he feels like he has been let down by the party who he has served loyally for decades. He told Donegal Daily “I can tell you one thing – this would not have happened if Bernard McGlinchey was still alive.“I was shafted by Fianna Fail and I don’t care who knows it. I was never asked to stand and I feel hurt by that.“What’s more is that my son David did plan to stand and run for election but he was not given a chance. “Although Fianna Fail held a meeting, the general card-carrying Fianna Fail supporters did not have a chance to select the candidates.“They were handpicked by these people from Dublin who know nothing about what the people in Donegal want.“My son David is a very well-liked young man and my history with Fianna Fail and my loyalty to them should count for something,” he said. The four candidates elected for the Letterkenny area are Ciaran Brogan, John Watson, Liam Blaney and James Pat McDaid. He added that he was genuinely serious that he and also son David are now considering standing as Independent candidates. “My phone has ben hopping now that the word is out that I have resigned from the party.“I am genuinely hurt and genuinely angry. I am deadly serious about standing as an Independent candidate and I have already received a lot of support from people I have spoken to,” he said.FISHER CONSIDERING STANDING AS INDEPENDENT AFTER BEING ‘SHAFTED’ BY FF was last modified: March 21st, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:county councilfianna failVictor Fisherlast_img read more
