first_imgNew Delhi: Skipper of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli and World Champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu are set to be awarded the illustrious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna on Tuesday (September 25) at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. Whereas javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and Table Tennis star Manika Batra are among the top athletes to be on the elite list of Arjuna Award winners. All the awardees will be honoured by President Ram Nath Kovind. Prez Koving will also present the Dhyan Chand Awards and Dronacharya Awards.ALSO READ: Luka Modric beats Cristiano Ronaldo to win Best Player of the YearVirat Kohli – world’s No.1 batsmen in both ODI and Test cricket as per the ICC rankings has been putting scintillating performances consistently since the last couple of years. The 29-year old missed out on the top sports award following consecutive nominations in 2016 and 2017. The swashbuckling batsman have smashed 6147 runs in 71 Tests with 23 centuries and 9779 runs in 211 ODIs, including 35 tons.Whereas, second awardee Mirabai Chanu was selected for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna after she clinched the Gold medal in the 48kg category at the World Championship in 2017 and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. first_imgChampions Asante Kotoko have confirmed to JOY Sports the team will continue their pre- season training at Winneba in the Central Region before the new premier league starts on October 7.The Kotoko team has moved from Adukrom in the Eastern Region to Winneba in the Central Region as they continue preparations for the demands of next season.The porcupine warriors for the past two weeks have been camping at Adukrom in the Eastern Region where the team have been playing series of trial matches.Kotoko have the league title to defend and a strong CAF Champions league campaign is envisaged.According to Listowell Burkason who is the spokesperson of Kotoko, the change of training venue is part of the strategy to getting the team ready for the new season.“The technical team did advise that according to plan we needed to move in terms of the weather conditions and how they want to build up to the premier league season”. He told JOY Sports“We have done two weeks in Adukrom and now we are moving to Winneba on Thursday for the rest of the camping”.last_img read more

first_imgBarbara CoatsBarbara Ellen (Coulter) Coats died on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Wellington at the age of 65.Barbara was born the daughter of James and Lois (Crane) Coulter on Tuesday, January 16, 1951 in Wichita.Survivors include her daughter, Robin Creamer of Wellington; son, Ken “Allen” Davis of Colorado; granddaughters, Joslyne Creamer of Wellington and Sophia Davis of Texas: sisters, Carol Slovacek of Dodge City, Patty Coulter of Wichita, Ruth Coulter of Wichita and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, JD Coulter.Memorial services for Barbara will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 in the Corzine Cemetery, Corbin. Pastor Phil Wylie will officiate.In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Bryce Day Memorial Foundation. All donations will be used to assist with funeral expenses.
